On The Road — San Francisco with Charles Phan, Mourad Lahlu and La Ciccia

Once again in the great city by the Bay, we were treated to more fine cuisine and service.   Of course, as we usually do, our first morning’s breakfast has to be at Chef Phan’s terrific Vietnamese restaurant: “Out the Door” on Bush St.  I don’t think you can start the day any better with any choice on the Menu……but especially order the Scone…..you’ll wonder how can a Scone be this good?

And if you get to just one of his seven(7) restaurants go to  “The Slanted Door” down at the Ferry Building…If you get there in time, you will get a seat at one of the finest eateries on the Embarcadero…

Ok, so let’s say you’ve done this and now want to have a terrific Italian meal the next night out ,in a quiet, rather small out-of-the way place.   Make a reservation with Lorel and husband Massimo’s  terrific Sardinian place in Noe Valley : “La Ciccia”.   One of the places we will return to each visit to SF.   I don’t think there is a dish which isn’t over the top…..in fact, I was amazed that we ate everything on each plate…..even the dessert.  And you are made to feel “at home” by Lorel and Massimo.

And, of course, make the trip from downtown to Mourad Lahlu’s “Aziza”  at 5800 Geary Blvd.  Terrific.   Order anything, you won’t be disappointed.     Mmmm!

To your health,

Jim
